Clann Zu - So Complicated Was the Fall
It's such a shame that this group disbanded. I used one of those AI stem splitting tools for the first time while transcribing this. While the quality is lacking for using it in my backing tracks, it's more than sufficient for transcribing duties.
Update: it left me restless, so I had to look for help: I used the transcription services offered on Fiverr. I contacted Leandro and I'd definitely recommend his services if you're in a similar position.
His transcription had the guitar tuned down 1 step, to D standard. It makes playing the Bbmaj7 voicing way easier and the D5 power-chords sound, as the name implies, very powerful with the additional open strings. Unfortunately, my guitar isn't setup for a D standard tuning (strings too thin, I'd have to adjust the intonation as well), so I adapted his transcription to an E standard tuning. The Bbmaj7 sounds muddy like this (I assume it's the intermodulation distortion), but if you don't let the notes ring out, it fixes it a bit.
I think they're using a violin run through a distortion pedal for the intro.
Adding a drone D thickens it up and I guess you can play it on a guitar.
The tone is really thick and I'm not sure if there's also a 2nd violin or
guitar playing. That's especially true for the part which starts at bar 129.
Leandro's transcription definitely proves that there's a guitar playing
as well.
I spent a lot of time trying to get the drums right. After all, they contribute so much to this track. Only once I started to transcribe them have I noticed how cool it was, with its snare rolls and almost jazzy feel. The part starting at bar 89 was pretty hard to transcribe as a non-drummer, so there might be some mistakes.
